SMI Tier Scholarship Program

TIER I
WHO SHOULD APPLY SMI Seniors applying to UCR Teaching Credential Program
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Multiple SMI Scholarships will be awarded for 2019-20 AY in the amount of up to $8,000 each. Award amounts will be based on applicant's merit and involvement in the SMI Program.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum
- 2018-19 active SMI Students (CNAS or BCOE majors)
- Admission to UCR Teaching Credential Program
- Passed CBEST
- Passed CSET Subtests I & II in subject area (Mathematics or Sciences)
- In pursuit of STEM Bachelor’s degree from UCR
- Completed EDUC 3 or equivalence
- Completed one upper-division course from: EDUC 109, 110, 116, 174, 175
Preferred
- Passed CSET Subtests I, II, III in subject area (Mathematics or Sciences)
- Completed EDUC 4 or equivalence
- Completed two or more upper-division courses from: EDUC 109, 110, 116, 174, 175
- Completed NASC 192
- Completed NASC 192L
- Participated in SMI Peer Mentor Program
- Participated in SMI Apprentice Program or SMI sponsored academies
DEADLINES: Friday, March 22, 2019
APPLICATION: UCR Teaching Credential application, including external materials (e.g. transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.) must be submitted directly to UCR-GSOE by the deadline. No SMI Scholarship Application Needed. SMI Scholarship Committee will coordinate with UCR-GSOE to review your teaching credential application.

TIER II
WHO SHOULD APPLY: 2019-20 SMI Seniors
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Multiple SMI Scholarships will be awarded for 2019-20 AY in the amount of up to $8,000 each. At least one scholarship award will be pre-designated for a physics or chemistry major. Award amounts will be based on applicant's merit and involvement in the SMI Program. All SMI Tier II Scholarships will be assigned to complete a year-long field assignment. Additional financial employment support to complete field requirements will be offered in the Scholarship Contract.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum:
- Current active SMI students (CNAS or BCOE major)
- Maintain updated SMI Program Plan
- Maintain good academic standing
- Minimum GPA (cumulative): 2.80
- Passed CBEST, official documentation needed
- Passed one CSET Subtest in subject area (Mathematics or Sciences), official documentation needed
- Completed EDUC 3 or equivalence
- Completed one upper-division course from: EDUC 104, 105, 109, 110, 116, 174, 175
- Updated Resume
Preferred
- Passed two or more CSET Subtests in subject area (Mathematics or Sciences), official documentation needed
- Completed EDUC 4 or equivalence
- Completed two or more upper-division courses from: EDUC 104, 105, 109, 110, 116, 174, 175
- Completed NASC 192
- Completed NASC 192L
- Participated in SMI Peer Mentor Program
- Participated in SMI Apprentice Program or SMI sponsored academies

WHO SHOULD APPLY: 2019-20 SMI Juniors
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Multiple SMI Scholarships will be awarded for 2019-20 AY in the amount of up to $8,000 each. At least one scholarship award will be pre-designated for a physics or chemistry major. Award amounts will be based on applicant's merit and involvement in the SMI Program. SMI Tier II Scholarships will be assigned to complete a year-long field assignment.

- Maintain good academic standing
- Minimum GPA (cumulative): 2.75
- Passed CBEST, official documentation needed
- Completed EDUC 3 or equivalence
- Updated Resume
Preferred
- Passed one CSET Subtest in subject area (Mathematics or Sciences), official documentation needed
- Completed EDUC 4 or equivalence
- Completed one upper-division course from: EDUC 104, 105, 109, 110, 116, 174, 175
- Participated in SMI Peer Mentor Program
- Attended one or more SMI approved professional development events during this academic year
